To mark the fourth annual Windrush Day, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh President, Professor Michael Griffin OBE, commented:
Ever since it was founded in 1948, the NHS has always benefitted from the skills, commitment and expertise that migrants from all over the work have brought to it.
Today is an important way to celebrate their vital contribution and reflect on the ongoing inequalities that many migrant NHS staff still face. On behalf of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh I would today like to thank all of those who come to our shores to care for our country.
