The Professional Standards Office (PSO) is responsible for ensuring that the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s core educational, examination and audit activities are focused on continuously improving patient care and surgical standards.
The PSO is based in the College's Birmingham Regional Centre and led by ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Vice President, Mr Tim Graham.Â
How the PSO Supports Surgical Standards
- Helping healthcare organisations recruit consultants, specialty doctor or honorary consultant posts.
- Providing specialist input into Advisory Appointment Committees.
- Undertaking ±è°ù´Ç´Ú±ð²õ²õ¾±´Ç²Ô²¹±ôÌý°ù±ð±¹¾±±ð·É²õ and participating in external audits and service reviews.
- Engaging with medical regulators, NHS inspectors, Trust and Health Boards, NHS policy makers and medical educators.
- Delivering high quality surgical training, either directly or through accredited providers.
- Providing .
- Offering international medical graduates high quality training places through our International Postgraduate Deanery.
- Closely liaising with the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ examinations and international committees.
